Did Iran burn another oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz?

X · @A7DATH_78 post: 432 likes (X syndication, 20 Oct 02:46Z); same clip spread by Iranian agencies Tasnim and Fars and by @alahvaziran (69 likes), @MohamadShamass, @ALI_ALKAML13; Misbar AR and EN checks 19 Oct

Misleading

The video plausibly shows a burning ship, and reputable outlets report that tankers caught fire in the Strait of Hormuz around Oct 17, 2026; but the caption's claim that "Iran burned another oil tanker" is misleading: Iran's own statements described mines/accidents and earlier versions of similar footage predate the conflict, so the post overstates attribution and may reuse old video.

Did the BBC call protests in France mostly peaceful?

X · Inevitable West post 8,931 likes (syndication); Richard Tice (Reform deputy leader) repeat 19 Oct 3,631 likes; Fox News, Breitbart, RedState, Western Journal, GB News pieces; BBC gave GB News a statement 19 Oct

True But

The BBC did describe the weekend demonstrations as "mostly peaceful" (BBC Paris correspondent James Waterhouse) while its broadcast showed footage of burning vehicles and clashes; that juxtaposition occurred and is accurately criticised by the post, but the caption's claim that an 'entire city' was 'up in flames' overstates the documented scale.

Did a Catholic church in France burn down?

X · @MAGAStorm47 post: 5,324 likes, 296 replies (X syndication, 20 Oct 02:46Z); copied verbatim by @MrJFitzgeraldJr and @An0nymousAsia; FB reels and video; Misbar checks in AR and EN on 19 Oct · resurfaced

Misleading

The video is authentic footage of the Immaculate Conception Church in Saint-Omer burning on 1–2 September 2024 (well-documented by French news and the diocese). The post's claim that the church was 'destroyed by Islamist / Jihadi Muslims' is unsupported and misleading; authorities reported a criminal arson and arrested a suspect, but no reliable source attributes the attack to an Islamist motive.

Did Trump say New Mexico should change its name to New America?

X · @SenSanders 5,635 likes, 368 replies within ~4.5h (X syndication); embedded by Iran International liveblog; responds to Trump's 'New America' rename post

True But

The underlying statement that President Trump called for New Mexico to be renamed 'New America' is confirmed by multiple news outlets (posted October 19, 2026). The attached image is a repackaged screenshot presented as an X/Twitter post, but reporting indicates the original post appeared on Truth Social, so the image is partially manipulated. Sanders' caption mixes that factual element with political opinion (calling the war 'illegal') and unverified fuel-price figures that were not confirmed in the retrieved sources.

Did the WNBA teams leave the court during the national anthem?

X · @RealDanZak video 910 likes, 1,078 replies (X syndication) within ~2h; OutKick 681 likes; NY Post 19 Oct; WNBA Finals trending on Bluesky and Google Trends US ('jordin canada')

True But

The video and contemporaneous reporting confirm that before Game 1 of the 2026 WNBA Finals (Oct 17, 2026) both the Atlanta Dream and Golden State Valkyries were off the court during the national anthem and returned shortly after it ended. The post's phrasing 'Once again' is partly interpretive and needs more context to support a broader pattern claim.

Did federal agents arrest a Belizean national for voter fraud?

X · @EricLDaugh post 4,349 likes (X syndication); Essayli 'Evidence of noncitizens voting' 9,007 likes; Trump Truth 19 Oct 10:01 ET shared NY Post 'FBI smash huge voter fraud ring'; NY Post, RedState, Townhall, Western Journal, Mediaite, Daily Beast, Blaze 19 Oct

True But

The post's claim that federal agents arrested a Belizean national in California (around 6 a.m. on Oct. 19, 2026) as part of a larger sweep is confirmed by a U.S. Attorney's Office press release and multiple reputable news outlets; the video attached appears to be a partly AI-animated montage but that does not change the underlying verified facts.

Did two police officers steal items from a Lacoste shop in Limoges?

X · 504 likes, 20 replies (X syndication); 20 Minutes says the video 'circule largement'; also covered by France 3, Le Populaire, La Montagne, Actu17, Actu.fr, Yahoo. The parquet opened a dénonciation calomnieuse probe against the video's authors

False

The video likely shows real police motorcyclists loading items into their saddlebags outside a Lacoste shop in Limoges on Oct 17, 2026, but authoritative post-event statements from the Limoges prosecutor and the national police say the officers were executing a judicial seizure and deny any theft. The claim that they 'stole' the goods is contradicted by those official sources.

Did Scott Bessent say Trump was tough on Russian sanctions?

YouTube · NBC News YouTube full interview 74,615 views (page data, published 18 Oct); Daily Caller, The Hill, Kyiv Independent, HuffPost coverage 18-19 Oct

True But

The post accurately reports that Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said "no one has been tougher on Russian sanctions than President Trump." Bessent is correct that the administration designated Rosneft and Lukoil in October 2025, but his categorical claim that "no sanctions were lifted" is contradicted by reporting that the president used a statutory waiver in mid-October 2026 to put a new sanctions/tariff package on hold.

Did Russia launch 76 attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure since the ceasefire announcement?

Facebook · Zelensky's 19 Oct Facebook post ('delays in certain types of vital supplies at the level of the U.S. Department of Defense'); KI Patriot/PURL story is trending on Mastodon; 20 Minutes, El Español, KI, Ukrinform, Censor coverage 19-20 Oct

True But

Ukrainian authorities and the president reported that Russian strikes in mid-October 2026 targeted energy infrastructure across multiple regions, causing substation damage, localised blackouts and fires. The Ukrainian president said these attacks continued after a U.S.-announced 'energy ceasefire' and provided a tally of 76 attacks in the following week.

What happened during the serious incident at Canadian military base?

TikTok · TikTok page: 209,200 plays, 5,665 likes, 3,328 shares, 351 comments; AFP says the same fireball clip spread in montages on TikTok, Facebook and X (some French captions)

True But

The post correctly reports that a serious incident at CFB Wainwright on Oct 17, 2026 produced a major fire and was confirmed by the Prime Minister — that outcome is corroborated by official Canadian government statements and multiple news outlets. However, the video is a montage that mixes footage from different sources/locations and at least some clips appear not to be from Wainwright, so the visuals are misleading.

What did Trump say about Russia and Ukraine on October 19, 2026?

X · @atrupar clip 3,867 likes (X syndication, 20 Oct); quote carried by HuffPost, NY Post, Kyiv Independent, US News/Reuters, Yahoo CA, Military.com within 24h

True

The video is authentic and the caption accurately quotes President Trump saying on Oct. 19, 2026 that "Russia, frankly, has been fine on Ukraine." However, that characterization is misleading: multiple reputable news outlets report ongoing Russian missile and drone strikes in mid-October 2026, including large attacks on Oct. 19, so the substance of Trump's statement misrepresents recent Russian activity.

Did a protester shout 'Release the Epstein files!' at a J.D. Vance rally?

X · @atrupar video 34,614 likes (X syndication, 20 Oct); quoted by Newsom press office; covered by TNR, Daily Beast, Mediaite, JoeMyGod, The New American

True

The video is authentic footage from a J.D. Vance campaign rally on October 19, 2026 in Hendersonville, N.C.; it shows a protester shouting 'Release the Epstein files!' and Vance responding in a way that implied the heckler was an undocumented immigrant. Multiple independent news outlets and pool photos/video confirm the incident.

Did Trump say Macron blames him for rioting in France?

X · @HQNewsNow video 21,593 likes; earlier @MarioNawfal "Macron blames the riots... on Trump??" 5,835 likes (X syndication, 20 Oct); Fox News "Beleaguered Macron cites US-Iran war as factor"

True

The video shows an authentic Oct. 19, 2026 White House press exchange: a Daily Wire reporter paraphrased Macron linking unrest in France to the Iran war, Trump called that 'fake news', then praised The Daily Wire after she identified herself. Multiple reputable sources and a press transcript confirm the interaction.

Did Amy Acton's mother urge voters not to vote for her?

X · @wcdispatch video 21,055 likes (X syndication, 20 Oct); Bluesky trending topic #1 "Ramaswamy ad features Acton's mother" (20 Oct ~14:40Z); Mediaite and Raw Story (x2) articles

Can't Verify

A likely-authentic one-minute political ad surfaced on Oct 20, 2026 featuring a woman who identifies herself as Donna Arthur and urges Ohio voters not to elect Amy Acton. The clip is real-looking and was reported by multiple outlets, but the mother's factual assertions (notably denying Acton’s reported childhood 'tent' episode and saying Acton 'lies her entire life') are contested and omit important context about family estrangement and earlier reporting on Acton’s childhood.

Was Roger Marshall mandated by law to request money owed from patients?

X · @Acyn video 1,299 likes; MeidasTouch quote 2,667 likes (X syndication, 20 Oct); Mediaite, HuffPost, Forbes, Daily Beast, Raw Story, MEAWW coverage (mostly on the slur)

False

The video is authentic and does show President Trump defending Senator Roger Marshall and saying Marshall was 'mandated by law' to request money from patients; however the legal claim in that statement is false — there is no law requiring doctors to sue patients or to force them to request arrests.

What did Trump say about the cognitive test at the Park City rally?

X · @atrupar video 3,608 likes (X syndication, 20 Oct); Raw Story "perfect brag" article with several reaction posts

Can't Verify

The video is authentic footage of Donald Trump speaking at a Park City, Kansas rally on October 19, 2026 and it accurately records the quoted line about a cognitive-test animal question. Trump’s statement that he 'got a perfect score' three times is recorded verbatim in the clip but we did not find independent public medical documentation to confirm the test-result claim.

Did Vincent Jeanbrun announce deductions from social benefits?

X · 2,562 likes, 632 replies (X syndication, 20 Oct); headline story in Le Figaro and Valeurs actuelles (both embed the post); Figaro debate piece on 20 Oct

True But

The minister Vincent Jeanbrun's X post accurately reflects a government announcement: reporters (RMC, Le Journal du Dimanche, RTL and others) say an interministerial circulaire dated 19 October 2026 was issued (or announced) with Gérald Darmanin to allow imputation of illicit gains on the calculation of social benefits. The core claim is confirmed, though precise legal scope and implementation remain subject to clarification and possible legal challenge.

X · @Sir1Real post with photo/video 3,765 likes (X syndication, 20 Oct); MEAWW fact-check 20 Oct 09:12Z

False

The video is authentic footage from Brad Pitt's June 23, 2025 Armchair Expert interview, but the caption's quoted remarks about his children dropping his surname are fabricated and not present in the interview transcript or any credible source.

Did Emmanuel Macron call Benjamin Netanyahu on October 7 about a ceasefire?

X · Channel 14 clip pushed by C14 English (about 1.2K likes per a search result, not traced into raw HTML); picked up by GB News, JFeed, Belaaz, INN and Arabi21; full interview due out 20 Oct; this repost has 64 likes (X syndication, 20 Oct)

Can't Verify

The video appears to be an authentic Channel 14 interview in which Benjamin Netanyahu says Emmanuel Macron called him on Oct 7 and that he dismissed calls for an immediate ceasefire, calling Hamas 'monsters' and comparing them to ISIS. The clip is genuine and the quotes are reported by multiple outlets; factual assertions inside the remarks (for example the existence/content of the private call and the claim that Hamas are present 'on the streets of Paris') are not independently corroborated and remain unverified or contestable.

Did a far-right group march in Lyon during the curfew?

X · 7,441 likes, 3,007 replies (X syndication, 20 Oct); 'couvre-feu lyon' on Google Trends FR (500+); covered by Le Monde video and 20 Minutes

True But

The video shows a far‑right march in central Lyon on the evening of 19 October 2026, which occurred around the time a localized curfew was in force — that part of the caption is confirmed by multiple news outlets and the prefecture. The caption's claim that police reaction was "inexistent" is overstated: the prefecture says police made contact and the group dispersed, so the assertion of total inaction is only partly supported.
